Modern buzz cuts include faded sides and look way better than they used to. The fade aspect gave this style what it was missing.

Brush Cut
A brush cut has 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch of length on top, which is brushed straight up, which explains the name. The cut fades down gradually from there.
Buzz Cut Number 3 or 4
Buzz cuts range from nearly shaven hair such as buzz cut 0 and go way up from there. A #3 or #4 guard or even higher will be used to give you around 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch hair all around.
This is a traditional buzz cut but you can pair it with a fade. So, ask your barber for buzz cut number 4 with skin fade with shaver. If he is good he will understand.
Don’t try to get a buzz cut with fade at home. The results may not be optimal. But, if you are serious about it and you have patience it can be done.
On the other hand, if you want a uniform buzz cut (with the same length all around) just go for it. Get good hair clippers, choose the length you want (#4 or higher is a relatively safe option) and then cut your hair.
If someone can help you with the hair at the back of your head it would be even better. But, getting a buzz cut with 1 and only guard is very easy.
The Crew Cut
The crew cut is a bit longer on the front to let you style it to the side or just let it down.
High and Tight
This buzz cut is 1/4 to 1/2 inch long on top with the sides and back shaved completely.
Induction Cut
The induction cut is the shortest of all types of buzz cuts. New recruits in the armed forces get this haircut, thus the name.
Ivy League
The Princeton clip or Ivy League is your best option if you want a crew cut with more length. The highest guards, often a #8 or #7, will be used for the top and fade down slightly from there. The cut will give you enough hair that you can part as you please. This is a very safe option if you are new to short haircuts.

While all goatees often look the shape, each one is different in terms of shape, length, and design. Below are some of the most famous types of goatees you can choose from:
- Classic Goatee
The pure classic goatee is basically a chin beard below the bottom lip. The classic goatee is by far the easiest style to achieve and maintain because of the absence of a mustache and with the cheeks and neck clean-shaven.

The anchor is a goatee style where the beard extends further up the jawline to resemble a fisherman’s anchor.
- The Van Dyke
Another popular goatee variation, the Van Dyke beard is perfect if you find it hard to grow a full beard or you get a patchy one. The style combines a soul patch, chin beard, and mustache. However, these parts are not connected at all.
- Goatee With Stubble
This style combines a traditional goatee with stubble beard on the sides. To get this style you have to grow your chin and mustache hair more than the hair on your cheeks (otherwise it will be a full beard)
You should have your regular goatee but instead of having clean-shaven sides there will be a little bit of hair like 3-4 days of stubble.
This makes your goatee more pleasant to the eye and it is better connected with the buzz cut and the sideburns.
My Favorite Buzz Cuts With Goatee (combined)
Buzz Cut Fade With Pointed Goatee
Choose a buzz cut you like but also ask for a fade. This will get your style at a whole different level. Then, grow a goatee for a month (shave the sides) and apply some beard wax. Style it like a ducktail beard, pointing down.
This way, your face will look more angular and this badass beard paired with your faded buzz cut will make people around you turn heads.
Buzz Cut Number 0 with Long Braided Goatee
Moving on to even more badass styles for you! Here we go.
Buzz cut zero is the buzz cut just before you shave your head completely. That’s awesome for all men, especially those with receding hairlines or thinning hair. In general, men with this buzz cut look very musculine.
If you want to grow a long braided goatee you need time and patience. It may take 6 or more months to get your goatee at the length you really want but it is worth it.

As we have previously discussed, goatee with stubble is done by growing a nice goatee clearly distiguished and longer than the short hair on your cheeks. But, you will still have hair on your cheeks to make this style safer. Because, as I have clearly stated, not every man looks good in a goatee.
So, pairing the goatee with stubble is the best solution.

Start with the shape of your face
It can be very tempting to go ahead and wear a buzz cut with a goatee. However, before you do so, make sure that you confirm first if this style suits you at all. Just so you know, the buzz cut isn’t ideal for all face shapes.
So, before you let the barber cut off your hair, it is best to remember that the buzz cut will look great only if you have a rectangle or oval face shape.
Choose the right length for your buzz cut
As mentioned earlier, the buzz cut comes in many different lengths. For this reason, it is important that you determine the right length and type of buzz cut suitable for you the most before you cut off your hair.
You also need to make sure that your barber is experienced and skilled with buzz cuts or is professional enough to give you the cut you need. Unfortunately, some barbers can be erratic when using razors, and it can spell a serious disaster when getting a buzz cut.

Some goatee styles are really badass and require creativity such as the anchor beard or the Van dyke beard while when growing a full beard you just trim it at the desired length and that’s really it.
