How To Braid Your Beard Step By Step

In order to braid a beard, it is obvious that you need a long, thick beard so give it time to grow.

What things we need to grow and braid a beard?

Trimmer
Beard Oil
Thin Tooth Comb
Angular Mirror
Elastic Band

These are the necessary things you need to grow and braid a beard. You can use many more such as styling products, conditioners and many more but if you don’t wanna spend much money and this is your first time trying it, having these items will be just ok for you.

Now, let’s discuss the steps we need to take to braid a beard.

Before you begin, it’s important to prep your beard. Use a comb or brush to remove any tangles or knots, as this will make it easier to braid. Then, wash your beard with water and shampoo. Dry it and then apply some beard oil to make it softer and easier to comb.
Next use a thin tooth comb to comb it and probably remove any tangles or curls that it may have. This step is critical if you wanna have a good quality braid.
Now, that we have a soft untangled long beard, it is time to divide our chin hairs into 3 distinct sections. Make the first knot fairly loose to start with, as this will give you more room to work with the strands later on.
The next thing you will need to do is to cross the right(or left) section over the middle one. Then, take the left section and cross over the right one. I won’t try to make it more complex than it is. A simple braid is not that hard to be made. I will upload a video in a moment to make sure you understood the concept.
Now the left section will be on the right side, the middle section will also be on the right side and the right section will be on the left side.
Repeat the process as many times as you like depending on your beard’s length. Keep it tight. It is important. Make sure to keep the strands separate as you braid, as this will create a neat and tidy braid. If you accidentally let them cross over each other, simply undo the braid and start again
After you finish this process, secure your braided beard with an elastic band and you are ready to go

This is the process and it does not need more than 3-5 minutes even if it is your first time doing it. However, as it applies to everything else, ”practice makes perfect”.

How To Maintain A Braided Beard?

To maintain a long, strong braided beard you have to take care of it in a daily basis. Washing your beard, applying the necessary beard products, combing it, eating the right way are only some of the things you should consider.

  • Washing your beard regularly is very important. Removing dead hairs and dust, opening hair follicles is very significant for a beard’s health.
  • Combing your beard also helps you remove dead hairs and lets your skin under your beard breathe. Under skin irritation is extremely common when you grow a long beard.
  • Apply beard oil and beard butter or wax. Using beard care products helps you brush your beard, make it more manageable and keep your under beard skin moisturized and healthy.
  • Eating the right foods also helps. Studies have shown that Vitamin E is beneficial to beard growth and maintenance. Also, eating healthy foods improves your health overall, obviously.

You don’t need to braid your beard every day. You can do it every 2-3 days after you wash it. But, it is a good idea not to leave your beard braided for extended periods of time such as 2-3 weeks.

The process of braiding it again is very easy and fast so please take the time to wash it, take care of it, and do it again.

Now, that we know how to create a braid on our beards and how to maintain it let’s see some wonderful beard styles.
