How Long Does A Buzz Cut Last?

For some men, it’s tough to cut their hair all the time. Fortunately, I’ve done all the research for you and will show you in the post how long a buzz cut lasts.

Others, on the opposite side, want to know how long a buzz cut lasts because they may want their hair to grow back after a bad haircut.

Whatever the case is, we have you covered!

In general, hair grows 1/2 inch or 1.27 cm over the period of one month. What this means is that to maintain a buzz cut you need to cut your hair quite often. However, if you have regretted the buzz cut, it will take about 2 months to grow your hair back (depends on how much hair you previously had, though)

In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about buzz cuts and hair growth so that you are left without any questions by the end of it!

Let’s get straight into it!

How Much Does Hair Grow In 1 Month? 1 Month After Buzz Cut

As we have briefly discussed, studies have proven that hair grows about 1/2 inch in one month. More specifically, according to Hairscientists.org, the average hair growth is 0.5cm-1.7cm (0.2-0.7 inch).

Factors that influence hair growth

  • Age
  • Genetics
  • Ethnicity
  • Hormones
  • Nutrition
  • Sex

The maximum hair growth is between the ages of 15 and 30.

Genetics is also a very important factor maybe the most important one. Every person has different genetics and this will influence how fast or slow his hair will grow.

Hormonal fluctuations like thyroid issues, menopause, testosterone decrease, etc affect hair growth as well.

Furthermore, nutritional deficiency, for example, anorexia also plays a significant role in hair growth.

Finally, men’s hair grows faster than female hair.

How To Maintain A Buzz Cut

the rock buzz cut

I suppose many of you are here because they want to know how often should they trim their head to maintain their buzz cut.

The answer to this question is that it totally depends on your goal.

If you want to always look fresh and stylish with a perfect fade buzz cut you should visit the barber (or do it yourself) once a week or maximum once every 10 days.

But, if you got this hair cut just to have short hair so that you don’t have to take care of your hairstyle and apply hair products, etc that’s also totally fine. If that’s the case get a haircut every 3-4 weeks.

Obviously, in week number 4 your hair won’t be the same as in the first week that you got your hair cut but you may not care. It will undoubtedly be relatively short if that’s your concern.

There are also other men that do not cut their hair even for 2 or 3 months! Just keep in mind that your hair won’t look anywhere near as when you had the buzz cut. But again, it won’t be too long.

Growing long hair takes time.

What If A Bad Haircut Resulted In Your Buzz Cut?

Half of you want their hair to grow slowly so that they don’t have to get a new buzz cut soon.

But, the other half of you want their hair to grow as fast as possible because either they didn’t like their buzz cut or they never wanted it but they did it because of a bad haircut they had before!

It is sad when you have a bad haircut. That’s why I don’t trust any other barber except the one that I have been going to for 7 years. Even if he is quite expensive.

Sometimes, you get what you pay for. Not always, though.

If you had a relatively short hairstyle prior to the buzz cut, 2-3 months will be enough for you to see your normal hair back.

If you had a ”medium” hairstyle then 3-4 months will be enough.

The problem is if you had really long hair. In that situation, you may need to wait for a year or even more to grow your long hair back.

I hope that no one of you belongs to the last category guys.

For every category, these months may sound like a lot but hair grows day by day. This means that let’s say if your hair will grow as much as you want in 2 months when only 1 month has passed it will still be ok and better than now.

I am trying to be optimistic but I feel your pain deeply. Bad haircuts s@ck big time. That’s the reality.

Best 3 Buzz Cut Styles

1. Medium Fade Buzz Cut Number 4

This buzz cut consists of a simple number 4 buzz cut using guard #4 on your hair clippers across your head and also a medium fade.

When we say medium fade, we mean that it goes up to the middle of your sides. It is not low (just above your ears) nor very high.

This is an excellent and safe buzz cut style for those of you that try it for the first time.

2. Long Buzz Cut (Number 5,6,7,8)

This haircut is again for men new to buzz cuts that want a safe option or for those of you that prefer relatively long hair for their buzz cuts.

It is safe because it is not too short such as the buzz cut number 1 or the buzz cut without a guard.

You can do this yourself or you can have a relative do it with ease. Nothing fancy. Just a nice short haircut that won’t expose your skin.

3. Buzz Cut Number 1

Jason Statham buzz cut

Don’t get me wrong. This is a very short haircut. It is what Jason Statham mostly chooses.

If you have a receding hairline, or if you just want to make a change and look badass you can try this one.

I remind you once again this is a very short haircut. The next shorter is the buzz cut without a guard and then there is the head shaver for the bald guys.

If you ask my personal opinion, choose the first one hands down. Fade is fire!

Conclusion

Head hair grows about 1/2 inch or 1,3cm in one month. Obviously, every one of us will have different hair growth and that’s ok.

  1. To maintain a buzz cut perfectly you need to get a haircut every week or 10 days.
  2. To just maintain short hair you need to get a haircut every month or two.
  3. If you don’t like your buzz cut, keep in mind that hair grows relatively slowly but time flies! You will be there in no time! Relax. You are awesome. Hair is not that important.

There are many more important things in life rather than hair, aren’t they?
