First impressions last the longest, which is why many people put effort into their appearance.

Finding the best hair trimmer can be a hassle. There are so many brands out there it’s hard to know which one is worth it. The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is one of the more popular trimmers, and we couldn’t help but wonder why.

Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is a sleek dual-cut technology trimmer. With 23 pieces, this trimmer is multi-functional and ideal for all beard types – long, short, stubble, and goatee. However, in this Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 review, we have a lot more things to discuss. Is it value for money? Is there a better alternative? What it can or cannot do? Any drawbacks?

Attachments

The main thing to look out for when choosing a trimmer is the blade type.

Many people experience cuts and bruises from sharp razors. There is also the problem of post-shave bumps and skin irritation. The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 carries a dual-cut blade with varied edges for a detailed finish to reduce the risk of shaving accidents.

The blades are waterproof and self-sharpening, meaning you can use them in the shower without having to worry about bluntness.

Guards

A common problem people face when grooming is hair tangling in the blades.

Hairy people often have a hard time picking trimmers due to this issue. The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 comes with guards that protect your skin from cuts and bruises. They also improve the efficiency of the Dual-Cut blade.

You no longer have to worry about hair getting stuck in your trimmer’s blades as the guards ensure that the blades don’t cut outside the designated area. There are two stubble trimming guards, two body trimming guards, one eyebrow trimming guard, and six hair trimming guards.

The guards come in different lengths for head-to-toe grooming. The Multigroom 7000 takes into account the skin sensitivity of each body part. Every guard is gentle on the skin while delivering a smooth and even cut.

Combs

Styling hair requires precision skills. You don’t want to mess up your hairline trying to get a smooth fade.

The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 has two fading hair combs. This comb design gives a smooth fade without jagged lines.

Fading your hair or beard requires experience but with this trimmer and a little bit of practice, you will definitely manage to do it properly.

If you want to go for a skin fade it would be helpful to also get an electric shaver cause this trimmer cuts up to 0.5mm. (You will use the shaver over and around the ears and low on your neck, then you will use the trimmer without a guard, then the 1 guard, etc.)

But this one may be only for barbers. (0.5mm is extremely short, you know) If you diy this thing you probably do not need the shaver but I just let you know everything I know so that you have more knowledge about the trimmer and grooming as a whole.

Motor

The Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is equipped with a powerful metallic motor and a tempered steel drive train, which increases efficiency while reducing vibration and noises.

This is an improvement on the Philips Norelco Multigroom 5000, which alerts everyone the moment you begin shaving.

Perfect for guys with thick hair. It doesn’t pull any hair no matter how thick your beard is. That’s huge. Very important.

Having tested hundreds of trimmers, this one has the best motor at this price range.

Battery

Battery life is one of the most vital elements of a DIY trimmer, and the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 leaves no stone unturned in this regard.

The trimmer lasts about five hours when fully charged, so you don’t always have to carry your charger around. It also has a 5 minutes quick-charge feature if you run out of power during a shaving emergency.

I mean, come on Philips. This is unfair!

Depending on how often you use it, you may need to charge this one every 3 months or even more.

Weight

The  Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 trimmer is quite handy, weighing only 15 ounces (about 0.45kg), making it ideal for traveling purposes. Its lightweight nature also eases the strain on your arms and wrists when shaving.

Norelco Multigroom 5000, on the other hand, is also an amazing trimmer but has some limitations. If you don’t have enough money to get the 7000 model then you should definitely go for Norelco 5000 but keep in mind that Norelco 7000 is significantly better and at a reasonable price.

Philips Norelco 7000 vs 9000

Philips Norelco Multigroom 9000 is the better version of the 7000 model.

It is slightly better at everything.

Longer warranty (10 years) but this also depends on which country the specific trimmer is made in. So, please check for the warranty duration and what it covers before buying. From what I personally know, it only covers mechanical issues.

25 attachments instead of 23.

A 6-hour battery instead of a 5.

A travel case that the 7000 doesn’t offer.

But, in my opinion, all of these things are not worth the price increase. I can’t tell you the exact prices because of Amazon terms and because they change often.

What I can say is that Norelco Multigroom 9000 is much more expensive than Norelco Multigroom 7000 and in my opinion, is not worth it for a normal bearded guy.

The trimmer is awesome but I think more expensive than it should be. That’s my take.

Philips Norelco 7000 vs 3000

Philips Norelco Multigroom 3000 is the cheaper version of this model.

It is by far Philips’ best seller and obviously, that has a lot to do with pricing. Philips Norelco 3000 is, as of now, $30-34 cheaper than the 7000. It is an outstanding trimmer and the best one in its price range.

However, let’s be real. It cannot do what Norelco 7000 can.

Every feature of Norelco 3000 is worse than the respective in 7000. For instance, the motor is a lot worse and weaker, the guards are only 13 instead of 23. The trimmer is designed to only cut beards and hair and not body hair and details.

Another significant difference between these 2 trimmers is that Norelco 3000 can run for 1 hour while the 7000 one can run for 5 hours.

The warranty also lasts for 2 years instead of 5.

In general, Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is the advanced version of Philips Norelco 3000 and it is a lot improved.

To sum up, if you want a high-quality beard trimmer that can last for years get the 7000 model. On the other hand, if you are looking for the best cheap trimmer definitely try the 3000.

That’s really it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Use Philips Norelco 7000 To Also Cut My Hair?

Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 can be used to cut hair. Actually, it can trim your hair amazingly and you can create beautiful fades and everything else you might want. The 23 guards allow you to cut your hair very precisely.

Can I Shave My Beard/Hair With Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000?

Norelco 7000 can trim facial or head hair up to 0.5mm. This is a very close trim. If you want even better results you should try a shaver or a manual razor however this trimmer trims really deep and most of you will not need an additional product.

Can Philips Norelco 7000 Trim Pubic Hair?

In fact, it can trim pubic hair extremely well. However, keep in mind that it is quite powerful therefore I would recommend you trim it with the 1mm guard for safety reasons. All in all, it is definitely able to trim pubic hair and you can do it inside your bathtub under running water and most importantly without making a mess. (it is waterproof)

How To Clean Philips Norelco 7000?

This trimmer is waterproof. Obviously, this does not mean you will go swimming with it. Be clever. Cleaning the guards is a no-brainer. You can clean them under running water. The same can also be applied to the body of the trimmer but do not overdo it. When you finish, dry it with a towel. Once in a while, you can disinfect the trimmer with a spray.

Can Philips Norelco 7000 Work While It Is Charging?

Greetings. This trimmer works perfectly fine while plugged. This is a serious thing because many of us realize that our trimmer needs charging just the time we need a trim. Having to wait until it is charged would be a catastrophe.

Conclusion

Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 is an amazing trimmer and the trimmer that we recommend constantly on this site this year. It is very affordable and does everything from very good to excellent. Perfect for every kind of facial hair and beard style. Perfect for guys with thin or thick facial hair.

Its drawbacks are very unimportant and to be honest, no trimmer is perfect. For instance, it could be better if it was a vacuum trimmer and could collect every hair. It could have a LED battery light. Maybe it could trim even short like 0.3mm or so.

But, the reality is that no trimmer can do it all and also be affordable. If there was such a trimmer it would cost $300 and then it would not be worth it.

All in all, we have a very positive opinion about this trimmer and we use it daily.

If you already have it or when it arrives at your home, tell us your opinion. We need your feedback to become better.
