Beard Doesn’t Grow On Chin? Here’s Why And How To Fix It!

Growing a beard on the chin area is hard to do when your genes don’t allow it. Most men can grow hair on their chins, even if they have little hair on their cheeks.

This is crucial to understand cause not being able to grow hair on your chin is way worse than not being able to grow facial hair on the sides. At least, on that occasion, you can wear the goatee beard and everything is fine.

In today’s article, we will discuss the following topics:

  • Why you don’t have hair on your chin
  • What affects beard growth
  • Signs that will have no beard on chin
  • How to stimulate beard growth on your chin

And more…

Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Why You Can’t Grow Facial Hair On Your Chin

Normally, men cannot grow beards on their cheeks. The chin area is not so common to not have facial hair.

The most possible answer to this is that your genetics do not allow it. Does your father or your brother have the same issue? If yes, you most probably won’t be able to grow facial hair there either.

Genetics plays a vital role in beard growth. Approximately 80%.

However, there are also other factors that play a secondary role in beard growth and you can control them.

The most significant one is the level of your hormones and more specifically testosterone and DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Testosterone is the male hormone. Low testosterone levels can have a huge impact on beard growth.

Keep in mind that women don’t have testosterone and therefore they have no beards. At least the majority of them! I am joking!

You can easily check your testosterone levels and see if you are within the normal range. If that’s the case you are fine.

Other factors that play a role in filling the patchy beard that you have are nutrition, exercise, the sensitivity of the bodily androgen receptors on T and DHT, age, and blood circulation on your face.

We will discuss how to take advantage of those factors and increase your beard growth later on.

As far as age is concerned, if you are older than 30 years old, chances are that your beard will keep developing, keep filling in. According to multiple studies and our personal research facial hair does not stop filling in before the age of 30. So, if you are younger than 30, don’t panic.

Factors that Affect Beard Growth

Let’s summarize what we briefly discussed above.

The factors that impact the thickness of your beard and obviously your facial hair on your chin area are:

  1. Genetics
  2. Levels of Testosterone and DHT
  3. Sensitive of the receptors on T and DHT
  4. Nutrition and dieting
  5. Age
  6. Blood circulation in the chin area

These are the main things that affect beard thickness.

Signs You Can’t Grow A Beard On the Chin

no beard on chin

There are some real signs that one can or cannot grow a beard.

As we briefly mentioned above, if your family and more specifically your father and your brother can’t grow beards or have patchy ones, chances of growing a full beard on the chin are not in your favor.

Another sign that you are going to grow beard on your chin is if don’t have any facial until the age of 18. We have previously said that beards tend to thicken until the age of 30. However, if you don’t have any facial hair until 18, this is a bad sign.

Testosterone at 18 years of age is at its peak. You should be able to see at least so hair in your face till then.

However, guys, if you are a teenager or a young adult and you have some facial hair but it is not yet full on your chin, be patient. It may fill in soon.

Even if the signs are not in your favor you still can try to boost your beard growth.

We will discuss how you can do that below!

How To Grow Facial Hair On The Chin

Despite the fact that facial hair growth depends very much from genetics there are still things you can do to boost it.

The factors that we can control as far as beard growth is concerned are testosterone levels, diet and exercise and blood circulation on this area.

The first and easiest thing someone should do if he has beard growth problems is to check out his testosterone levels. If his levels are normal, there is no need to panic.

However, normal levels of Testo can be increased naturally by consuming the right foods and by doing heavy strength training.

This will not only promote beard growth but also help you live a better-quality and healthier life.

Our body is our home and we should take care of it, shouldn’t we?

Some examples of foods that increase the levels of testosterone naturally are:

  • fatty fish and oil
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • ginger
  • oysters

and more!

On the other hand if your testosterone is low, you should visit a doctor and talk about your options. You will probably have to get into testosterone replacement therapy but you will discuss this one with him and not with me that I am not a doctor.

Another thing you can do to promote beard growth is to send more blood to the chin area.

Easier said than done, right?

On the market, there are derma rollers which are rollers that help a process called micro needling.

There is research that proves derma rollers are effective for hair growth but there aren’t yet studies that prove the same thing for beards. However, most probably it applies to beards too.

You can try it and tell me your results! Apply the method(s) for an extended period of time! You are not going to see results instantly. It is a process!

At the end of the day, you have nothing to lose.

To Sum Things Up

Not being able to grow a full beard is awful.

Especially, if you can’t grow facial hair on your chin hurts a lot.

Today, we discuss whether you should worry about this problem depending on your situation.

There are a lot of factors that impact beard growth but genetics is the most important. But, if you are not over 30 years old, be patient.

We also discussed things you can do to help your beard growth. Things you can control.

Finally, I wanted to point out that if used to have facial hair on your chin and suddenly you don’t have, you should visit a dermatologist because there may be a dermatological problem.

And that’s it for today’s article gentlemen! I tried to keep this one as short and helpful as I could.

Happy grooming!
