When Does Peach Fuzz Turn Into A Beard?

Let’s face it. Most men dream of having the best, the most complete beard on the planet. Maybe you are thinking that girls will love it or maybe you just like the idea of having this Viking or this Goatee Beard.

However, you will never have a beard like that before your peach fuzz turns into a beard.

But actually when does peach fuzz turn into a beard?

Well, I ‘’ll be honest with you. And the honest answer is, it depends.

Some people think that shaving your baby beard will accelerate the process of turning it into an actual beard.

But this is wrong. This is a myth.

When Does Peach Fuzz Turn Into A Beard

The most important thing as far as beard growing is concerned is genetics. Genetics plays the most important role. If you have ‘’good’’ genetics you can even have a beard by the age of 14-15 and when you grow older it will eventually become a full beard.

However, if you don’t have ‘’good’’ genetics, you may never reach the point of having a full beard.

However, most people will be able to grow a beard. Yes, this is reality. Most people can grow a beautiful beard.

But, here is the catch.

There are very few people on the planet that are able to grow this thick, full beard that you may dream of.

What Is Vellus Hair?

Vellus hair is the thin, fragile, soft hair that grows all across our bodies from birth to death. This hair grows everywhere on us except our feet soles and our hand palms.

Also, vellus hair is replaced by terminal hair in many areas, for example, our face.

Most people want their vellus hair to be replaced by terminal hair so that they grow a mustache, a beard or both.

But why vellus hair is nearly everywhere and not only on our faces?

The purpose of vellus hair existence is protection. Protection from sun rays radiance and also from other environmental factors.

Also, vellus hair helps us relatively keep a steady body temperature. It allows the sweat to elaborate while terminal hair makes it a bit more difficult for it to happen.

In short, two to four months are needed for someone to grow a full beard.

Beard growth normally has 3 distinctive phases. In the first stage, the beard grows rapidly in a day to day basis. In the next stage, the beard growth is slower but we still have beard growth.

The final step is when a beard stops growing.

This needs approximately 6 years to happens. After 6 years your beard won’t grow anymore. In this phase, some hair falls out and being replaced by newer and… don’t panic. This is normal! It shows that the beard has reached its maximum length.

When does Vellus hair turn into terminal hair beard?

When does Vellus hair turn into terminal hair beard

Vellus hair turns into a terminal hair and as a result terminal beard in puberty. But, obviously, it will happen slowly. The fact that it starts in puberty does not mean that when you turn 15, for example, you will automatically have a full beard. You may still have a babe beard and that’s actually ok.

After the 14th or 15th year of age, most teenagers’ testosterone and DHT( dihydrotestosterone) levels start to rise.

  • The teenager’s voice starts to change and becomes deeper.
  • He loses body fat,
  • He becomes stronger with greater bone density and muscularity
  • His facial and body hair grows and becomes stronger

and more…

This is happening because of Testosterone. Testosterone is the men’s hormone. It is what distinguishes men from women, boys from men, etc.

But, some of you may ask.

Hey, Tasos, I am 17 or 18 and I have still a peach fuzz beard. Is it too late for me?

The answer is no. There are many men that grow a beard later. In fact, I have 2 close friends that didn’t have facial hair until 19 years of age and now they are 30 and they have a very good beard. (Not the Bilzerian beard, but they do have a good beard)

So, don’t panic.

Also, even if you don’t grow a beard early on, there are some things that can do down the path for beard growth stimulation.

Some men grow facial hair faster and others slower and that’s ok. Haven’t you seen some friends in school having more facial hair than others?

But this alone does not mean anything. You can’t see the maximum beard growth before you even reach 25 years of age.

Now, let’s move on to what you can do to grow your beard faster and make it thicker.

How To Turn Peach Fuzz Into A Beard?

How To Turn Peach Fuzz Into A Beard

As I have stated before, the most important thing in beard growth is genetics. This, however, does not mean you can’t do anything to help your beard grow. The main 3 categories we will discuss are:

  • Healthy Diet And Lifestyle

  • Beard Care

  • Medical Help

These are the 3 main categories of what you can do to grow a beard faster and make it thicker. Of course, the third option will be your last option and despite the fact that I am a military nurse you should ALWAYS ask a doctor before you take any supplement.

Health over everything.

Let’s now take things one by one.

Healthy diet and lifestyle

A healthy diet and lifestyle is our first step on growing a beautiful strong beard. Have you ever wondered why someone has a thick beard and another guy does not?

Taking care of our body, eating the right foods, taking the right vitamins can really make a difference when it comes to beard growth.

Some people really don’t know or underestimate the healthy lifestyle. Did you all know that regular exercise and weightlifting, not only helps you live longer but also elevates your testosterone levels?

I have stressed Testosterone’s importance before but you need to remember that. The higher your testosterone levels in your body(naturally) are, the better is the chance that you will grow body and facial hair.

However, don’t make silly actions here.

Buying testosterone supplements or taking testosterone injections is only allowed if you have hypogonadism(low levels of testosterone) and only a doctor can prescribe this hormone to you.

If you take these by yourself you put yourself in a great danger. A great danger!

Instead, you should start running and do some weight lifting. This will improve your overall health, stamina and will raise your testosterone levels.

Now, let’s move on. What foods should you eat and what vitamins should you take?

The foods you should eat are foods with a variety of vitamins, protein and good fats. Good fats not only help testosterone to rise but also raise HDL which is the ”good” cholesterol that prevents heart diseases. But, this is a whole other story and I don’t want to take it too far from our today’s topic.

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Nuts
  • Egg Folks
  • Tuna
  • Oysters

Of course, you need to follow balanced nutrition. You need foods that have a variety of vitamins and also raise testosterone. I repeat this again and again because it is the most important thing you should keep after reading this article.

Testosterone is an androgen and it is the main male hormone. It stimulates the development of male characteristics, including facial hair.

Also, many studies suggest that vitamin 7, mostly known as Biotin, plays an important role in beard growth, therefore, you should ask your doctor if you can safely take a biotin supplement.

Finally, it is highly recommended that you stop smoking and reduce your stress.

There is evidence that stress reduces testosterone levels according to https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

On the other hand, there is no direct evidence that smoking slows down beard growth, but since smoking is the number #1 factor that causes cancer, heart diseases, atherosclerosis, and much more it is likely that it hinders beard growth as well.

Yes, there will be exceptions.

Some people smoke and they have beards. It is 100% sure that beard growth depends on more than 1 factor. At the end of the day, we can’t change our genetics but we can change things we can control.

To sums things up, in this first stage you should follow a healthy lifestyle.

  1. Take Care Of Your Body
  2. Eat The Right Foods( Vitamins, Biotin v7)
  3. Stop Smoking
  4. Try to reduce stress levels.

Beard Care Routine

Moving on from a healthy lifestyle, the next most important thing that you can do to stimulate beard growth is following a beard care routine.

These are the things you should do to grow a beard faster:

  • Wash Your Face In The Mornin And At Night
  • Exfoliate Your Face Once A Week
  • Use Beard Oil And Moisturizer
  • Let It Grow

Washing your face 2 times a day will keep your face clean and your hair follicles open. This, of course, can potentially be a decisive factor for facial hair growth since it will be much easier.

Many men skip this part and underestimate its importance. Don’t make this mistake. It is really easy and simple to just wash your face. It doesn’t have to be a fancy shampoo or anything like that.

Exfoliate or scrub your face once a week in order to remove the dead cells. This, let’s say, opens the path for facial hair to grow. This is another simple step. Do this alone, no need to pay someone else to do it for you or feel shy about doing it. It helps a lot.

Using beard oil and moisturizer is all you may need to pay to grow a beard but they are very cheap. Keeping your beard and face soft and moisturized undeniably stimulates beard growth.

I was actually surprised at how cheap I bought the best beard oil on this Amazon listing.

Finally, the last tip is…let it grow! You may want your beard to grow in 1-2 weeks but this is impossible to happen. Also, in the first stage, you may not like it, you may want to shave it or something like that…

If you wanna grow a long beard, don’t do this! Let it grow. It needs time. In fact, 2-4 month will be needed to see significant results.

However, some of you may have tested these things in the past but still, they don’t have a beard…

Is it over?

Well, if you have done these things and you are over 30+ years old, there is a high chance that your facial hair won’t thicken much more.

But, if this is really important for your personal happiness there is one more solution…

Medical Option

Obviously, this will be the last solution. Not because it is dangerous or expensive or anything like that but because it’s a small surgery.

Yes, you guessed it right.

The final option to growing a beard is a beard transplant. Nowadays, more and more people who are bald, choose to transplant hair.

This also applies to facial hair. Results will vary depending on the doctor and on his quality of services but this is definitely the final solution. Many people can’t stand without a beard and they choose this path.

Actually, they are many more than you imagine…

Final Words

We have learned quite a lot of things today, so let’s try to summarize what we ‘ve learned.

Peach fuzz starts to turn into a beard by the age of 14-15 for the mast majority of teenagers. For some, it will start a little bit sooner and for some a little later on, but in general, it will start at this age.

In order for you to grow a full beard(not the longest), it will take 2-4 months. Beard growth stops after 6 years of not shaving.

Vellus hair is all over our body and its goal is mainly protection from environmental factors and temperature stabilization.

Finally, you can turn your peach fuzz into a beard firstly by being patient and letting it grow!

Also, you should follow a healthy lifestyle and try to raise your testosterone levels naturally by eating the right foods, taking the right vitamins and do some weight training.

Another way of stimulating beard growth is beard care. Washing and cleaning your face is really key here. Also, use oil and moisturizer and you will be perfectly fine.

Also, get some uninterrupted sleep. It helps your overall health but also your beard growth. (at night, the vast majority of hormones are released, you guessed it right-testosterone)

The final solution is the beard transplant. If nothing else works for you and you are obsessed with the idea of having a beard go for it. No reason not to, if it is really what makes you happy.

And…that’s it for today’s article!

I hope you liked it!
